This is why the primary motivation of many accordion performers is to encourage the creation of new repertoire, both through collaborations with contemporary composers who write music for the accordion and through arrangements and transcriptions that adapt music originally written for other instruments to the accordion. The deep dedication of these performers has gradually expanded the accordion repertoire in recent decades, and today’s new generations have an increasingly broad range of works to shape their musical future. Nevertheless, the accordion still lags behind when compared to instruments with a long musical tradition.
In this context, Acord Edicions is born, a Catalan music publishing company dedicated to the accordion, with the firm conviction that the repertoire is essential for asserting the accordion as a concert instrument. The publishing project aims to create and gradually expand a catalogue of musical works for the accordion that fills the gaps in the instrument’s repertoire and promotes its dissemination. The publishing company is dedicated to the publication of accordion sheet music, including original compositions and transcriptions, covering a wide range of levels and musical formations. This includes accordion solo, accordion in chamber music groups, with electronics, ensemble, orchestra, accordion soloist, and more.
